Some circus artists perform a rather risky trick, when they throw a knife at a defenseless person. The trick appears to be more thrilling, if the target is a beautiful girl. No wonder that certain filmmakers have employed such circus scene in their movies. Here, several examples of the trick on the silver screen.
Soviet drama Le Capitaine Fracasse («Капитан Фракасс», directed by Vladimir Savelyev, produced by Dovzhenko Film Studios, 1984), based on the novel of the same name by Théophile Gautier, shows the seventeenth century’s France, where a daredevil artist has thrown a knife at a Gypsy-looking girl. Soviet political thriller Enclosure («Загон», directed by Igor Gostev, produced by Mosfilm Studios, 1987) features a fictitious US journalist Claire Ridgeway, who has bravely faced a knife-throwing performer. Historical drama Gangs of New York (directed by Martin Scorsese, produced by Initial Entertainment Group and Alberto Grimaldi Productions, 2002) contains a scene, where a bad guy has hurled a knife many times at a pretty girl as some kind of macabre entertainment.
