Her Kazakh Pals

When Donald Trump won recently the 2016 US presidential election, many experts have deemed his victory as beneficial for Russia. Perhaps, they are right to some extent. But, the point is that his rival, Hillary Clinton, has also been on more than friendly terms with Russian businessmen, politicians, and their Kazakh proxies.

In this photo, shot somewhere in or before 2008, Mrs. Clinton stands by a controversial Kazakh entrepreneur, Abai Sarsekeev (1971- ). Reportedly, he is a nephew of a pro-Russian Kazakh diplomatist, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev. In the aforementioned article, Mr. Sarsekeev also said to be an owner of several marketplaces in Almaty — the biggest city of Kazakhstan. Identical comments to this article and that declaration of a local politician argue that Mr. Sarsekeev is a swindler, against whom several criminal cases have been filed. He has also been reputed as a close friend of another dubious character, Timur Kulibayev, a son-in-law of the Kazakh president.

The Clintons have also been involved in a notorious multinational scandal, whereby substantial US uranium assets fell into the hands of Russia.  The infamous political couple brokered the shadowy deal between Russian heirs of the KGB, their Kazakh proxy — a Bashar al-Assad-like dictator Nursultan Nazarbayev, and Canadian energy profiteers. In return, the Clinton Foundation have received very generous donations from the parties, concerned in this transaction. Once again, we witness an extreme complexity of the modern politics, where ostensibly rivaling parties actually go hand in hand.

No wonder that the Obama administration has been reluctant to firmly pursue the Russian annexation of Crimea. The Trump administration will basically maintain this course of action. Some yearn for the president Reagan, who took a tough stance against the USSR, which were much more stronger than today’s Russia. Well, don’t forget that Mr. Reagan fought against the socialist country — a complete antagonist of the capitalist USA. Nowadays, things have changed. The former rivals have become business partners. Accidents will happen in  the best regulated families. But, in the foreseeable future there is no way for a major confrontation between the Russians and the Americans, carrying out a mutually beneficial cooperation.
