The modern Kazakhstan has been a playground for imperialistic powers such as Russia and China, who have had an upper hand, when it comes to divide spheres of influence in this Eurasian country. But, other less-important regional players have also been a beneficiary of the corruption-ridden Kazakhstan’s natural resources and transit routes. In this respect, a particularly nasty state of Turkey should be mentioned. Because, unlike Russia and China, the Turks have insidiously played up similarities between Turkey and Kazakhstan in terms of common cultural heritage, languages, and customs. But, frankly speaking, the Turks of the basically Armenian-Greek-Kurdish-Arab-Bulgarian-Turkic hodgepodge pedigree have little in common with the Kazakhs, who have managed to considerably retain their original Turkic core.
Alarko Holding constitutes one of the most infamous examples of the Turkish presence in Kazakhstan. Its construction projects of mediocre quality, bribery, low safety standards, etc. have plagued civil engineering industry of the Eurasian country. A few accomplishments of Alarko Holding have been due mainly to German technologies and know-how of other developed countries of the West. Of course, I am not an expert on this particular company. You better consult one of its executives Lale Ergin, who can be directly reached by her phone: +905337192907 or email: [email protected] Alternatively, you may contact its representative in Kazakhstan Gunay Gokalp, who is available on his phone: +77012227516 or email: [email protected]
The Turks also foster nepotism in Kazakhstan. For example, employment policy of the aforementioned Alarko Holding is notorious for its cronyism. One of its employees is a lawyer Assel Oshakbayeva, who is a relative of the late defense minister of Kazakhstan Sagadat Nurmagambetov. No doubt, the well-connected Ms. Oshakbayeva enjoys a decent salary and other benefits. However, ordinary employees of the Turkish company have not been that lucky. They receive just a modest wage for their hard labour.
