Petty Theft on Silver Screen

Everyone does his best to make a living. Very few of us have a guaranteed way to succeed. Therefore, sometimes even questionable methods of earning money are quite pardonable. No wonder that photoplays have had many scenes with poor fellows, trying to make both ends meet in a grotesque way. Let us review certain examples of such petty theft.

Marvelous adventure movie Jungle Book (directed by Zoltan Korda, produced by United Artists, 1942) contains a scene, where a barber has made the unsuccessful attempt to steal a coin. Hilarious Soviet comedy Kidnapping, Caucasian Style («Кавказская пленница», directed by Leonid Gaidai, produced by Mosfilm Studios, 1966) has a funny moment, when the Coward has skillfully misappropriated a banknote. Martial arts film Bloodsport (directed by Newt Arnold, produced by Golan-Globus, 1988) has a comical scene, where a steward at the tournament has filched a crown.
